Design award: reddot design award 2011

Sky Planter Plant Pot

Plants & Flowers by Patrick Morris, New Zealand

Unconventional and modern, the design idea of these hanging plant pots literally turns gardening upside down. Its innovative Slo-Flo watering system feeds water gradually to the plant’s roots. Thus, the soil is never saturated and water dripping is avoided. The combination of a mesh and locking disc prevents the potting soil from escaping. The Sky Planter was developed for use in both private and public spaces. By utilising the ceiling for planting, a new green area opens up without sacrificing valuable living space. In addition, an attractive hanging plantation could allow for a new arrangement of urban architecture. The Sky Planter Ceramic range is hand-made from stoneware and comes in three sizes.
